Welcoming Simon Dawes – Sydney

Welcoming Simon to the Point Advisory’s Sydney office. As a Senior Manager with the team, he will focus on Climate Change Services.

Simon is keen to see climate change take centre stage in Australian politics (in a positive way) and for indigenous Australians to become key participants in regenerative agriculture.

Simon has 40 years’ experience as an electrical engineer, with the last 20 years focussed on technology projects and greenhouse inventory and project audits. In addition to engineering, Simon has completed a Master of Business Administration and further studies in petroleum reservoir engineering. Recently, he has completed courses from Australian Institute of Company Directors and is registered as a lead auditor with the Clean Energy Regulator, amongst others.

Following three years working in software development, Simon has spent the past ten years in professional services at Net Balance and EY. At those organisations he was engaged in climate change and sustainability audit and consulting activities in a wide range of firms from primary, secondary, and tertiary sectors. Simon first worked in the electricity distribution sector, and then in management systems certification. He continues to be engaged in the accreditation sector.

Outside of work, Simon enjoys spending time with his family (and the grandchildren), reading, and reminiscing about overseas travel. He is a non-executive Director at Carers NSW.
