John Shaw joined Point Advisory’s Melbourne team

John has six years of experience in the urban development industry. His previous position entailed the design, drafting and auditing of road, drainage, sewerage, and water reticulation infrastructure for greenfield residential estates. Through this role John developed his understanding of the built environment and practical considerations relevant to the delivery of significant infrastructure projects.    

John holds a Bachelor of Environmental Engineering from Monash University, with his major research project investigating the application of Water Sensitive Urban Design in suburban Melbourne. He is currently pursuing a Master of Environment and Sustainability at Monash University with the aim of broadening his knowledge about the ecological, economic, social, and technological drivers of sustainable development.

John has a strong interest in climate change mitigation and adaptation and the opportunities decarbonisation presents in improving the quality of urban environments and human wellbeing. John is also interested in the way sustainable outcomes are measured and the manner in which different frameworks and tools influence strategy.   

Beyond work, John enjoys reading, keeping active through running and gym, and exploring the outdoors.
