While Australia is not a green continent – or maybe because it is not a green continent – our cities have been pioneers in the use of green infrastructure, which provides similar or superior services than classic ,“hard”, infrastructure but also delivers additional benefits, climate regulation for example.

The economic framework (https://theconversation.com/how-green-is-our-infrastructure-helping-cities-assess-its-value-for-long-term-liveability-50528) provides an approach on how to look at the economic value of green infrastructure, including those co-benefits that do not result in financial cashflows.

This can assist in understanding the business case for such infrastructure.
