We’re looking for a Manager with 5-10 years experience in the Human Rights field to join our team in one of our Australian-based offices. If you are the successful candidate, you will bring strong experience, and an ability to take initiative and work independently to achieve excellent client and organisational outcomes.

About the role:

This role will see you join our growing human rights service line as a Manager. You will lead engagements across a range of human rights related projects including: policy and strategy development; risk and impact assessment; Modern Slavery Act advisory; due diligence and capability development; risk assessment and action planning engagements. You might also work across responsible sourcing and procurement, or at the intersection of human rights and environmental or climate change considerations. Working closely with senior team members, your role will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality services and products for clients, as well as identifying and leading new opportunities to develop new business.


  • Manage and lead projects across the Human Rights service line – supporting clients with policy and strategy development, risk and impact assessment, modern slavery, due diligence, capability development and action planning engagements.
  • Proactively manage internal project teams on these projects to ensure timely delivery of quality products under the guidance of senior team members, and work effectively with Project Directors to ensure project quality and risk management
  • Prepare high-quality, clearly written, well researched and beautifully presented reports for clients.
  • Develop positive relationships with existing and potential clients, and assist in the development of winning proposals and other business development initiatives

Skills and experience:

Applicants should only apply if they can demonstrate the following essential skills and characteristics:


  • A degree in law, arts, international development, economics or similar
  • Experience in human rights in a business context in line with recognised standards and guidelines such as the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights
  • Five to ten years experience in a human rights, social impact, or modern slavery role
  • Exceptional client service (based on strong interpersonal skills, empathy, strong communication, ability to tailor solutions to client context/delight clients)
  • Experience in Modern Slavery data analysis, research, and risk assessments
  • Strong critical thinking and ability for systemic problem-solving skills
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork (based on strong interpersonal skills, empathy, strong communication), and ability to work effectively autonomously and within a team-based environment
  • High level of project management/programs of work experience from initial scoping through to delivery/evaluation
  • Strong time management skills
  • A positive can-do attitude with the ability to take initiative and get things done


  • Understanding of sustainable or responsible procurement and/or sustainable finance
  • Expertise across the dimensions of sustainability, with knowledge of best practices and emerging sustainability strategies, standards and approaches
  • Previous consulting/professional services experience in a similar role
