Case Study
A Point Advisory team member undertook a comprehensive LCA looking at Coal vs Gas for Power generation with the boundary including all upstream and downstream activities.
The study was undertaken to determine the difference in the GHG emissions between Coal and Gas. This was subsequently used to determine the amount of carbon that would be required to be mitigated to meet gas fired GHG profiles.
The study was completed using SimaPro and peer reviewed by the CSIRO. The outcomes of the study was presented to the Western Australia Department of Environment and Conservation to provide a quantitative assessment of GHG emissions from Coal vs Gas fired power generation and to determine mitigation options.
